Stanford University announced June 29th, 2020 by way of Vice Provost for Student Affairs Susie Brubaker-Cole and Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education Sarah Church, the academic plan for undergraduate students for the 2020 – 2021 academic year.
The university will invite half of the undergraduates to campus for each quarter. Specifically, freshman and new transfer students will be invited back in the autumn quarter, while seniors will be invited back in the spring. All decisions the school has announced are contingent on the recommendations and guidance of health officials.
Stanford University has included several instructions for students to consider while undertaking their planning for the 2020 – 2021 academic year. “Students can choose any three quarters in which to enroll, with the exception of freshmen and new transfer students”. Additionally, “Students may only come to campus during their two assigned in-person quarters and they must be enrolled during these quarters. No student is required to return to Stanford for an in-person quarter”.
The University is still working on specific details and guidance for the 2020 – 2021 academic year, but it has emphasized its primary focus is the health and safety of its students, faculty, and staff.
