Today, we celebrate the lives of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. They were our friends and family, and their names live on through their teachings, stories, and memories. They made us better, and it is now our duty to carry their legacies forward.
One of the ways that we can continue to bring positivity to their names is by succeeding in what we do, thus shedding light on what it means to be a service member. Our traditions and their memories will forever be intertwined. We share a lasting bond, forged in our shared titles of Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Airman, and Coast Guardsman, and we must never forget that. So, give your best effort in everything you do. Whether that is school, work, or helping your juniors, stand up for what you believe would make them proud.
Today, I recommend you reach out to those you love. Enjoy your weekend, but of course, never forget why we have this holiday. If you’re going through a hard time today or any other day, remember that there are people who love you, and they will be there for you. You can even contact us personally, or if you wish to remain anonymous, you can always call the Veteran Crisis Line. Thank you, again, for your service in keeping our friends’ legacies alive. We wish you a happy Memorial Day.
Dedicated to Lt. James “Doc” Mazzuchelli
